Is there an official TikTok MCP server?

Yes, but it is for ads. TikTok for Business runs an MCP server that its help page describes as "a standardized bridge" for connecting AI agents to TikTok Ads, for "developers and advertisers". Digiday reported it lets agents "plan, launch and optimize campaigns". It needs no developer credential or API key. It does not post organic videos to your account. TikTok Ads MCP: what the official server does

The official TikTok MCP server is built for advertising. TikTok for Business describes it as "a standardized bridge built on the Model Context Protocol (MCP)" that exposes advertising functions as tools an AI agent can call. It is aimed at "developers and advertisers".

Digiday reported on 13 May 2026 that it lets AI systems "plan, launch and optimize campaigns without manual intervention", the work media buyers do by hand: creatives, bids, budgets and targeting.

TikTok's help page says setup needs no developer credential, API key management or custom coding. It lists two endpoints: a full one that loads around 400 tools at connection, and a layered one that loads around 40 core tools first.

If you run paid campaigns, use it. It is the official route and SociaHive does not run ads.

If you want to publish your own videos, it is the wrong tool. Ad tools do not post organic content to your account. That is the gap SociaHive's server fills, and many teams connect both: TikTok's for ads, SociaHive for the content calendar.

TikTok MCP for posting: videos, photos and the inbox option

Claude or ChatGPT can post to TikTok through SociaHive's MCP server. It handles videos and photo posts (photo carousels), with a caption of up to 2,200 characters. The assistant imports your media from a public link with upload_media_from_url, then schedules it with create_scheduled_post or schedule_post. publish_post_now posts immediately and always asks you to confirm.

TikTok requires the creator to choose who can see a direct post, so SociaHive asks for that privacy setting.

Two other options exist. "Send to my TikTok inbox" delivers the video or photos as a draft in the TikTok app, where you add sound and effects and post yourself. Accounts connected before 14 October 2026 reconnect TikTok once to use it. "Remind me to post instead" skips posting: at the scheduled time you get a reminder in the app and on the SociaHive iOS app.

The same video can go to YouTube Shorts and Instagram in one request. Scheduling works on every plan. Using it from an AI assistant needs the 7-day trial (no card) or a paid plan.

Does TikTok have an API?

Yes. TikTok offers developer interfaces, including a TikTok API for Business for advertising. The official MCP server sits on top of the ads side and needs no developer credential for the user. SociaHive handles the TikTok sign-in for posting, so you do not apply for API access yourself.
