Facebook MCP server for Pages and Messenger: post, measure and automate from your AI

A Facebook MCP server lets an AI assistant such as Claude or ChatGPT work with Facebook through tools. SociaHive runs a hosted one at https://www.sociahive.com/api/mcp for Facebook Pages and Messenger. It schedules posts, reads post numbers and builds Messenger automations. It does not manage ads. Nothing to host.

Is there an official Facebook MCP server?

Yes, for ads. Meta runs a hosted Ads MCP server at https://mcp.facebook.com/ads. Meta's overview says its tools create and edit ads, ad sets and campaigns, manage catalogs, pull performance reports, check signals, run A/B tests and conversion lift studies, and show activity logs. It is built for paid advertising, and the page lists no price. It does not schedule Page posts. SociaHive covers Page posting, post numbers and Messenger automations, and the same server also covers your other social accounts.

Things to ask about Facebook

  • A scheduled Page post appears on your calendar.

  • A summary of your Page post numbers.

  • A draft Messenger keyword reply for you to review.

  • Runs and results for that automation.

Facebook Ads MCP vs a Facebook Page MCP: which do you need?

If you buy ads, you need Meta's own Ads MCP server. If you run a Page, you need a Page server. The two do different jobs, and "facebook mcp" searches mix them up.

Facebook Ads MCP. Meta hosts it at https://mcp.facebook.com/ads. Per Meta's overview it creates and edits ads, ad sets and campaigns, manages catalogs, pulls reports, checks signals and runs A/B tests. Ad managers and agencies running paid campaigns want this one. Tools like madgicx and open-source projects on GitHub also work on the ads side.

Facebook Page MCP. This is about your organic Page: posting, scheduling and reading how posts did. SociaHive's server does this, plus Messenger automations for the Page.

Quick test:

  • Want to change a budget, audience or campaign? Use the ads server.
  • Want to schedule next week's posts or see which post did best? Use SociaHive.
  • Want both? Connect both servers to the same assistant. They do not overlap.

SociaHive does not touch ads. We would rather say that here than have you find out after signing up.

Is there a Facebook Messenger MCP server?

Yes, in two ways. Messenger MCP connectors exist as app listings, such as the one from Zapier. SociaHive also covers Messenger, but as automation, not as an inbox.

With SociaHive you describe an automation in your AI chat. For example: "When someone messages my Page the word hours, reply with our opening times." The assistant builds a draft flow. You review it, then turn it on. It can handle keyword replies, a welcome message and collecting an email address. You can check results afterwards with get_flow_stats.

Know the limits before you start:

  • Plan. Messenger automation is on the Studio plan ($79 a month) and up. Scheduling Page posts works on every plan.
  • Setup. The Page's Messenger must be connected to SociaHive.
  • No inbox. The AI cannot read your Messenger conversations or reply to people one by one. Automations run on their own after you turn them on.

If you need an assistant that reads and answers each message, this is not that tool. If you need fast, consistent replies to common questions, it is. A longer walkthrough is in our Messenger bot guide.

Facebook limits your AI should know

Account typeFacebook Pages only, not personal profiles
Post textUp to 63,206 characters
MediaSeveral images in one post, or one video
SchedulingEvery plan; from an AI assistant it needs the trial or a paid plan
Messenger automationStudio plan ($79/mo) and up, with the Page's Messenger connected

What it can't do on Facebook

  • It does not create or manage ads, campaigns or ad reports.
  • It does not post to Facebook Groups.
  • It does not work with personal profiles, only Pages.
  • It does not read or answer your Messenger inbox from the AI.
  • It does not read Pages you do not manage.
  • Stories and Reels-specific options are not available to most users.

FAQ

What is a Facebook MCP server?

It is a server that gives an AI assistant tools for Facebook through the open Model Context Protocol. Most results are for Meta ads. SociaHive's is for Pages and Messenger: it schedules posts, reads post numbers and builds Messenger automations on your own Page.

What is the Meta MCP server URL?

Meta's hosted Ads MCP server is at https://mcp.facebook.com/ads. It is for managing ads, reporting and catalogs. SociaHive's server, for Pages and Messenger, is at https://www.sociahive.com/api/mcp. Pick by job, or connect both to the same assistant.

Can Claude post to a Facebook Page?

Yes, through an MCP server connected to your Page. With SociaHive, Claude can schedule posts with text, several images or a video. Publishing right now asks you to confirm first, so nothing goes live by surprise. It cannot post to Groups or personal profiles.

Is there a free Facebook MCP server?

Open-source servers on GitHub cost nothing, but you run them and bring your own access. Meta lists no price for its Ads MCP server. SociaHive is hosted and needs the 7-day trial (no card) or a paid plan, from $29 a month.

Can SociaHive manage my Facebook ads?

No. SociaHive does not create ads, manage campaigns or report on ad spend. For that, use Meta's own Ads MCP server at mcp.facebook.com/ads. SociaHive covers your organic Page: scheduled posts, post numbers and Messenger automations.
