Pick one and watch it get built

To schedule a Facebook post, open your Page, go to Meta Business Suite, click Create post, write the post, turn on the date and time toggle, pick a time and click Schedule. Facebook accepts times from 20 minutes to 29 days ahead. Scheduling is built for Pages and groups, not for personal profiles.

This guide covers the steps, where to find your scheduled posts, and what you can and cannot schedule. It is one part of our guide to scheduling social media posts. To post the same thing on Instagram, see how to share Facebook posts to Instagram.

What Facebook lets you schedule

Facebook lets you schedule posts on a Page and in a group you manage, plus stories from Meta Business Suite. Its help pages describe no option for personal profiles, so use a Page. Some guides say Meta Business Suite allows scheduling up to 75 days ahead; Meta's help pages state 29 days for Page posts, so test in your account.

How to schedule a Facebook post on a Page

You schedule a Facebook Page post from Meta Business Suite by choosing a date and time before you publish. Facebook's Page scheduling guide gives these steps, and every scheduled time uses your current time zone.

  1. Switch to the Page you want to use.
  2. Click Meta Business Suite in the left menu of your Page.
  3. Click Create post.
  4. Add your text, photos, video or link.
  5. Turn on the Set date and time toggle next to Scheduling options.
  6. Pick a date and time, or click Active times to see the times Facebook recommends.
  7. Click Schedule.

Meta's Business Suite guide describes the same flow starting at Content, then Create post. If your Facebook Page and Instagram account are connected, posts publish to both by default. Deselect one under Post to if you only want Facebook.

Where did the schedule post button go?

If the Scheduling options toggle is missing, check your role and the account type. Facebook says scheduled posts can be created and edited by people with Facebook or Task access, and scheduling is built for Pages, not personal profiles. Ask a Page admin to check your access.

How to find and edit scheduled posts on Facebook

Scheduled posts live in the Planner tab and under Content in Meta Business Suite. Open Planner, click the post on the calendar (switch between Week and Month), then click Options to change it.

According to Facebook's help, Options lets you do these things:

OptionWhat it does
Edit postChange the text, media, link or location
Duplicate postMake a copy as a new post
Reschedule postPick a new date and time
Move to draftsCancel the publish time and keep the post as a draft
Delete postRemove the post

You can also see them in Content, Posts and reels, Scheduled, where Options, then Manage post, then Reschedule post opens the date picker.

How to find scheduled posts on Facebook mobile

On the phone, use the Meta Business Suite app, not the Facebook app. Tap Content, then pick the content type, and scheduled items show on their date in Planner. Meta's mobile guide gives the full path.

To schedule from the app, tap Content, choose the type (Posts, Reels or Stories), tap Create, add your text and media, tap Next, then tap Schedule for later and choose a date and time. Tap Schedule to finish. For Facebook posts you can also tap Save as draft to come back later.

Can you schedule Facebook stories?

Meta's mobile app guide lists stories among the content you can schedule, next to posts and reels. Use the Meta Business Suite app, choose Stories under Content, tap Create, then Schedule for later. You can use the Business Suite mobile app or follow Meta's desktop stories guide, where you click Create story and choose Schedule under Scheduling options. Before you upload a video, check Facebook video size for the ratios Facebook supports.

Can you schedule posts in a Facebook group?

Yes, if you are an admin or moderator. In the group, click Write something, start your post, click the calendar icon next to Post, choose the date and time and click Schedule. Facebook says this option appears only after you start typing.

To manage the post later, open Scheduled Posts in the Admin tools menu (click Manage first if you do not see it). From there you can reschedule, post now, edit or delete. Admins can also set up recurring posts with Admin Assist, which repeat daily, weekly or monthly.

Schedule Facebook posts with a third-party tool

Meta's tool covers Facebook and Instagram only, so teams that post elsewhere usually add another scheduler. SociaHive's content scheduler schedules Facebook Pages from the same composer as its other platforms, with 30 scheduled posts a month on the free plan. It does not schedule Facebook Groups or Stories, so use Meta's tools for those.

Plan the week before you schedule

Decide the week's topics first, then write and load all of them in a single session so nothing is left to do mid-week. Our content calendar template gives you the grid, and best time to post on Facebook helps you pick the hour.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I schedule a Facebook post on my personal profile?

Facebook's help pages describe scheduling for Pages and groups, not personal profiles. To schedule, create a Facebook Page and use Meta Business Suite. If you only need a reminder to post later, a phone alarm is the simplest workaround, since a personal profile has no scheduling toggle to switch on.

How far in advance can you schedule Facebook posts?

Up to 29 days. Facebook's help center says Page posts can be scheduled to publish between 20 minutes and 29 days away. If you want content ready for longer than that, save posts as drafts in Meta Business Suite and schedule them once they fall inside the window.

Why can't I see my scheduled Facebook posts?

Look in the Planner tab, or in Content under Posts and reels, then Scheduled, in Meta Business Suite for the right Page. Also confirm you picked the correct Page and that your role allows creating posts. Planner shows content as a weekly or monthly calendar, and you can filter it by content type and platform.

Can I schedule a Facebook post for less than 20 minutes from now?

No. Facebook's minimum for a scheduled Page post is 20 minutes from the current time. If the post needs to go out sooner, publish it now instead of scheduling it, or pick a time at least 20 minutes ahead and check the time zone shown matches yours.
