Connect SociaHive to OpenClaw

Your server address

https://www.sociahive.com/api/mcp

OpenClaw

OpenClaw, on the machine running your Gateway

  1. 1

    Run openclaw mcp add sociahive with the server address and --transport streamable-http (full command below).

  2. 2

    In the mcp.servers.sociahive entry of your OpenClaw config, set auth to oauth.

  3. 3

    Run openclaw mcp login sociahive, sign in to SociaHive and approve.

  4. 4

    Run openclaw mcp doctor sociahive --probe to check that the tools load.

Then: From your chat app, message OpenClaw: “What’s going out on my accounts tomorrow, and did anything fail today?”

Install in OpenClaw

Add the server

In your terminal, on the Gateway machine.

openclaw mcp add sociahive --url https://www.sociahive.com/api/mcp --transport streamable-http

Config with OAuth

The entry in your OpenClaw config. Then run openclaw mcp login sociahive.

{
  "mcp": {
    "servers": {
      "sociahive": {
        "url": "https://www.sociahive.com/api/mcp",
        "transport": "streamable-http",
        "auth": "oauth"
      }
    }
  }
}

Config with an API key

For a headless Gateway. Make a key in SociaHive: Settings → API keys, and keep it in OpenClaw’s secret storage rather than plain config.

{
  "mcp": {
    "servers": {
      "sociahive": {
        "url": "https://www.sociahive.com/api/mcp",

          "Authorization": "Bearer sk_your-api-key"
        }
      }
    }
  }
}

Skill

Optional. Teaches the agent the SociaHive CLI; set SOCIAHIVE_API_KEY on the same machine.

npx skills add sociahive/sociahive-mcp

Things to ask first.

Copy one into a chat once you are connected.

  • The photo is copied into SociaHive and the post is queued.

  • Today’s posts with their status, right in your chat.

  • A short summary of reach and engagement across your accounts.

What is OpenClaw?

OpenClaw is an open-source personal AI assistant that you host yourself. A Gateway runs on your own computer or server, and you talk to the assistant through the chat apps you already use: WhatsApp, Telegram, Slack, Discord, iMessage, Signal and more. You extend it with skills, plugins and MCP servers.

It is MIT licensed and stewarded by the OpenClaw Foundation, a nonprofit, with Peter Steinberger and a large community behind the code.

OpenClaw is a real MCP client: its docs cover remote servers over Streamable HTTP with OAuth or headers. Connect SociaHive and your assistant can schedule posts to 22 platforms, check what is queued and report on results, all from a chat message.

Can OpenClaw post on a schedule?

Some guides describe OpenClaw automations that run on a cron schedule, but we have not confirmed this in OpenClaw’s own documentation. Check the docs for your version before you build on it.

Either way, the timing lives in SociaHive. A post your assistant schedules goes out at its time from SociaHive’s queue, even if your Gateway is off or your laptop is asleep.

Everything OpenClaw can do in SociaHive.

Schedule posts

Write a post and queue it at your best time, on any account you connected.

Post right now

Publishes straight away, after you confirm in the chat.

See your calendar

Everything that is scheduled, across all your accounts.

Read your numbers

Reach, saves and engagement per post, and what to post more of.

Build DM automations

Describe it in one sentence. It builds the flow as a draft for you to turn on.

Check your automations

Which flows are live and how often each one fires.

Reuse what works

Save your best posts to an evergreen queue and reshare them later.

Move posts in bulk

Shift a whole day of posts in one go, keeping their times.

What OpenClaw gets: the SociaHive MCP server.

One address, https://www.sociahive.com/api/mcp. The same server works in every AI tool on this site.

MCP (Model Context Protocol) is the open standard AI tools use to reach outside apps. SociaHive runs a hosted MCP server, so there is nothing to install or keep running: OpenClaw calls it over the internet and acts in your SociaHive account. These are the tools it uses most. See every tool and the API.

ToolWhat it does
list_accountsLists the social accounts you connected to SociaHive.
create_scheduled_postWrites a post, with text, images or video, for one or more accounts.
schedule_postQueues a post at a time you pick or at your best time.
find_next_slotFinds the next free slot in your posting schedule.
publish_post_nowPublishes straight away, after you confirm.
upload_media_from_urlCopies an image or video from a public link into your media.
get_scheduler_calendarShows what is scheduled, across all accounts.
get_post_analyticsReads reach, likes, comments and saves per post.
get_content_insightsFinds which formats and topics beat your usual numbers.
generate_flowBuilds a DM automation from one sentence, as a draft.
list_flows_with_statsLists your automations, which are live and how often they run.
bulk_reschedule_postsMoves many scheduled posts in one go.

One connection, every channel.

Connect each account once in SociaHive and OpenClaw can post to it. Scheduling covers 22 platforms; X needs a paid plan.

DM automations run on Instagram, Facebook, Messenger and WhatsApp on every paid plan, and on Telegram on Pro and Agency.

Is it safe to let OpenClaw post for you?

  • You approve the connection

    Sign in to SociaHive and approve, or use an API key you can delete at any time. The agent never sees your social passwords.

  • Read-only if you want

    Tick “Read-only access” when you connect and the agent can look at everything and change nothing.

  • Nothing goes live by surprise

    Publishing right now asks for your yes in the chat. Automations it builds start as drafts until you turn them on.

  • Revoke in one click

    Settings → Connected apps in SociaHive cuts the agent off on its next request. API keys are deleted under Settings → API keys.

Everything runs on hardware you control. Prefer the OAuth sign-in, which you can revoke in SociaHive, over a key stored on the Gateway machine.

What does it cost?

OpenClaw is free and open source. You pay for the model provider you plug in and for the machine that runs the Gateway.

On SociaHive, MCP access is part of the 7-day trial and every paid plan, from Creator up. There is no extra charge per tool call. See plans.

Included in the trial.

And on every paid plan. 7-day free trial for the paid features. No credit card required.

Connect OpenClaw

Troubleshooting OpenClaw.

The Sign in button in the Control UI does nothing.
OpenClaw allows browser sign-in only from the Gateway’s HTTPS, loopback or Tailscale address. Run openclaw mcp login sociahive in a terminal instead.
The SociaHive tools don’t appear in chat.
Run openclaw mcp doctor sociahive --probe. If it passes, restart the Gateway so the agent picks up the new server.
The server was added but calls are refused.
Check that auth is set to oauth and that you finished openclaw mcp login. While auth is oauth, OpenClaw ignores any headers you set.
It asks me to upgrade
MCP access is part of the SociaHive trial and every paid plan. On the free plan the agent can connect, but each request answers with an upgrade link.
An account is missing
The agent only sees accounts connected in SociaHive. Connect it under Connected accounts, then ask the agent to list your accounts again.
A post did not go out
Ask the agent for the post’s status, or open it in SociaHive. A failed post shows the platform’s reason, for example an expired login that needs reconnecting.
It says it is not allowed to change anything
You connected with read-only access. Remove SociaHive under Settings → Connected apps and connect again without ticking it.

FAQ

Is OpenClaw an MCP client?

Yes. OpenClaw’s own docs describe adding remote MCP servers over Streamable HTTP or SSE, with OAuth or headers. That is how SociaHive connects.

Is OpenClaw the same as nanoclaw?

No. They are separate open-source projects. nanoclaw is a smaller assistant built on the Claude Agent SDK that runs each agent group in its own container. We have a setup page for each.

Does OpenClaw need my social media passwords?

No. Your accounts stay connected inside SociaHive. OpenClaw only gets access to SociaHive, through the sign-in you approve or a key you make.

Which platforms can OpenClaw post to?

The ones you have connected in SociaHive, out of 22, including Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, TikTok and YouTube. X needs a paid SociaHive plan.

Can I add SociaHive from the Control UI instead?

Yes. Add a server under the MCP settings, choose Streamable HTTP and paste the server address, then set auth to oauth and sign in.

MCP server or the skill?

Start with the MCP server: it signs in with OAuth and needs nothing else installed. The skill adds the SociaHive CLI for uploads and bulk jobs, and uses an API key.

Can it post or change things without asking me?

Automations it builds start as drafts, with every step written out, until they are turned on. Publishing a post right away needs your yes in the chat. If you only want it to look, tick “Read-only access” when you connect: it can read everything and change nothing.

Which plans include it?

The 7-day trial and every paid plan. On the free plan your assistant can still connect, but each request answers with a link to upgrade instead of running.

How do I disconnect it?

Open Settings → Connected apps in SociaHive and revoke it. It is cut off on its very next request. You can also remove the connector in your assistant.

Use SociaHive with other AI agents.
