Give your OpenAI dot your social media.

A dot keeps working after you close the chat. With SociaHive connected, it can fill gaps in your calendar and report on your automations.

What are OpenAI dots?

Dots are always-on agents inside ChatGPT. Each dot has its own cloud computer and browser, keeps going between conversations, and follows rules you set about what it may do alone and what it must ask about first.

OpenAI makes dots and announced them in September 2026. A dot works with the same apps and permissions you already use in ChatGPT.

Connecting SociaHive gives a dot a place to act on your social media. It can schedule posts to 22 platforms, read your numbers and look after your DM automations, while SociaHive keeps the posting itself.

Can OpenAI dots post on a schedule?

Yes. You can ask a dot to do something at a fixed time, and OpenAI lists recurring jobs under Scheduled in the dot’s profile. Say your time zone and how long it should keep going.

The posts themselves do not depend on the dot. When a dot schedules a post, SociaHive publishes it at that time even if the dot is paused or busy with something else.

What OpenAI dots gets: the SociaHive MCP server.

One address, https://www.sociahive.com/api/mcp. The same server works in every AI tool on this site.

MCP (Model Context Protocol) is the open standard AI tools use to reach outside apps. SociaHive runs a hosted MCP server, so there is nothing to install or keep running: OpenAI dots calls it over the internet and acts in your SociaHive account. These are the tools it uses most. See every tool and the API.

ToolWhat it does
list_accountsLists the social accounts you connected to SociaHive.
create_scheduled_postWrites a post, with text, images or video, for one or more accounts.
schedule_postQueues a post at a time you pick or at your best time.
find_next_slotFinds the next free slot in your posting schedule.
publish_post_nowPublishes straight away, after you confirm.
upload_media_from_urlCopies an image or video from a public link into your media.
get_scheduler_calendarShows what is scheduled, across all accounts.
get_post_analyticsReads reach, likes, comments and saves per post.
get_content_insightsFinds which formats and topics beat your usual numbers.
generate_flowBuilds a DM automation from one sentence, as a draft.
list_flows_with_statsLists your automations, which are live and how often they run.
bulk_reschedule_postsMoves many scheduled posts in one go.

One connection, every channel.

Connect each account once in SociaHive and OpenAI dots can post to it. Scheduling covers 22 platforms; X needs a paid plan.

DM automations run on Instagram, Facebook, Messenger and WhatsApp on every paid plan, and on Telegram on Pro and Agency.

Is it safe to let OpenAI dots post for you?

  • You approve the connection

Sign in to SociaHive and approve, or use an API key you can delete at any time. The agent never sees your social passwords.

  • Read-only if you want

Tick “Read-only access” when you connect and the agent can look at everything and change nothing.

  • Nothing goes live by surprise

Publishing right now asks for your yes in the chat. Automations it builds start as drafts until you turn them on.

  • Revoke in one click

Settings → Connected apps in SociaHive cuts the agent off on its next request. API keys are deleted under Settings → API keys.

Set the dot’s rules so drafts need no approval but scheduling, publishing and deleting do. SociaHive also asks you to confirm anything that publishes right away.

Connect OpenAI dots

Troubleshooting OpenAI dots.

Your dot does not see SociaHive.
OpenAI’s dots docs describe plugins, and a dot uses the connectors available to your ChatGPT workspace. Check that SociaHive is installed in ChatGPT and allowed for the dot. On a work plan, an admin may need to allow it.
The dot writes posts but never sends them to SociaHive.
Name SociaHive in the request, for example “schedule this in SociaHive”, and check the dot is allowed to use it.
There is no option to create a dot.
Dots are rolling out gradually, and you create them on desktop. Free, Go and Plus plans do not include them.
It asks me to upgrade
MCP access is part of the SociaHive trial and every paid plan. On the free plan the agent can connect, but each request answers with an upgrade link.
An account is missing
The agent only sees accounts connected in SociaHive. Connect it under Connected accounts, then ask the agent to list your accounts again.
A post did not go out
Ask the agent for the post’s status, or open it in SociaHive. A failed post shows the platform’s reason, for example an expired login that needs reconnecting.
It says it is not allowed to change anything
You connected with read-only access. Remove SociaHive under Settings → Connected apps and connect again without ticking it.

FAQ

Is a dot the same as ChatGPT?

A dot lives inside ChatGPT, but it keeps working after you leave the chat, on its own cloud computer. A normal ChatGPT chat only acts while you talk to it.

Do I need a SociaHive API key for my dot?

No. ChatGPT signs in to SociaHive with OAuth when you install it, and you approve that once.

Can my dot post while I am away?

It can schedule posts while you are away, and SociaHive publishes them on time. Whether it waits for you first depends on the rules you give the dot.

How are dots different from Grok Bot?

Both are always-on agents with their own cloud computer. Dots live in ChatGPT and come with its plans; Grok Bot is xAI’s, bundled with SuperGrok and some Cursor plans.

Which platforms can a dot post to?

Any of the 22 platforms SociaHive schedules to, such as Instagram, LinkedIn, TikTok and Bluesky, through the accounts you connected in SociaHive.

Can it post or change things without asking me?

Automations it builds start as drafts, with every step written out, until they are turned on. Publishing a post right away needs your yes in the chat. If you only want it to look, tick “Read-only access” when you connect: it can read everything and change nothing.

Which plans include it?

The 7-day trial and every paid plan. On the free plan your assistant can still connect, but each request answers with a link to upgrade instead of running.

How do I disconnect it?

Open Settings → Connected apps in SociaHive and revoke it. It is cut off on its very next request. You can also remove the connector in your assistant.

Use SociaHive with other AI agents.
