Give your Paperclip agents social media.
Paperclip runs a team of agents. Add SociaHive to the runtime one of them uses, and that agent can schedule posts, find open slots and report on results.

Connect SociaHive to Paperclip
Your server address
https://www.sociahive.com/api/mcpPaperclip
The host where your Paperclip agent runs
- 1
In SociaHive, open Settings → API keys and make a key.
- 2
Save it as a Paperclip secret and pass it to the agent as SOCIAHIVE_API_KEY with a secret_ref entry in the adapter’s env.
- 3
On the agent’s host, as the OS user that runs its heartbeats, run claude mcp add with the SociaHive address and the Authorization header (full command below).
- 4
Run claude mcp list and look for sociahive as connected, then assign the agent a task.
Then: Assign a task like “List the SociaHive tools you can use and which accounts are connected.”
Install in Paperclip
Claude Code runtime, API key
On the agent’s host. SOCIAHIVE_API_KEY comes from the Paperclip secret.
claude mcp add --transport http --scope user sociahive https://www.sociahive.com/api/mcp \ --header "Authorization: Bearer $SOCIAHIVE_API_KEY"
Claude Code runtime, OAuth
Leave out the header, then run claude, type /mcp, pick sociahive and sign in once as the heartbeat user.
claude mcp add --transport http --scope user sociahive https://www.sociahive.com/api/mcp
Skill and CLI
Optional. Install where each agent runs, with SOCIAHIVE_API_KEY set.
npx skills add sociahive/sociahive-mcp npm install -g sociahive

What is Paperclip?
Paperclip is an open-source app for running a team of AI agents. You bring the agents, such as Claude Code, Codex, Gemini CLI, Cursor, OpenClaw or Hermes, give them goals, and track their work and costs from one dashboard. Agents wake when work is assigned or on a timer.
It is made by Paperclip Labs and released under the MIT license. Paperclip is not an agent itself: it launches other runtimes, so tools like MCP servers are set up inside the runtime each agent uses.
That makes social media a job you can hand to one agent on the team. With SociaHive in its runtime, it can schedule to 22 platforms, pick open slots and read your analytics, while the rest of the team writes and plans.
Can Paperclip post on a schedule?
Yes. Paperclip agents wake on timer heartbeats, and Routines run on a cron schedule, a webhook or an API call. A weekly planning Routine is a natural fit.
The posts themselves don’t wait for Paperclip. Once an agent schedules a post, SociaHive publishes it at its time, even if the agent’s host is down.
Everything Paperclip can do in SociaHive.
Schedule posts
Write a post and queue it at your best time, on any account you connected.
Post right now
Publishes straight away, after you confirm in the chat.
See your calendar
Everything that is scheduled, across all your accounts.
Read your numbers
Reach, saves and engagement per post, and what to post more of.
Build DM automations
Describe it in one sentence. It builds the flow as a draft for you to turn on.
Check your automations
Which flows are live and how often each one fires.
Reuse what works
Save your best posts to an evergreen queue and reshare them later.
Move posts in bulk
Shift a whole day of posts in one go, keeping their times.
What Paperclip gets: the SociaHive MCP server.
One address, https://www.sociahive.com/api/mcp. The same server works in every AI tool on this site.
MCP (Model Context Protocol) is the open standard AI tools use to reach outside apps. SociaHive runs a hosted MCP server, so there is nothing to install or keep running: Paperclip calls it over the internet and acts in your SociaHive account. These are the tools it uses most. See every tool and the API.
| Tool | What it does |
|---|---|
| list_accounts | Lists the social accounts you connected to SociaHive. |
| create_scheduled_post | Writes a post, with text, images or video, for one or more accounts. |
| schedule_post | Queues a post at a time you pick or at your best time. |
| find_next_slot | Finds the next free slot in your posting schedule. |
| publish_post_now | Publishes straight away, after you confirm. |
| upload_media_from_url | Copies an image or video from a public link into your media. |
| get_scheduler_calendar | Shows what is scheduled, across all accounts. |
| get_post_analytics | Reads reach, likes, comments and saves per post. |
| get_content_insights | Finds which formats and topics beat your usual numbers. |
| generate_flow | Builds a DM automation from one sentence, as a draft. |
| list_flows_with_stats | Lists your automations, which are live and how often they run. |
| bulk_reschedule_posts | Moves many scheduled posts in one go. |
One connection, every channel.
Connect each account once in SociaHive and Paperclip can post to it. Scheduling covers 22 platforms; X needs a paid plan.
DM automations run on Instagram, Facebook, Messenger and WhatsApp on every paid plan, and on Telegram on Pro and Agency.
Is it safe to let Paperclip post for you?
You approve the connection
Sign in to SociaHive and approve, or use an API key you can delete at any time. The agent never sees your social passwords.
Read-only if you want
Tick “Read-only access” when you connect and the agent can look at everything and change nothing.
Nothing goes live by surprise
Publishing right now asks for your yes in the chat. Automations it builds start as drafts until you turn them on.
Revoke in one click
Settings → Connected apps in SociaHive cuts the agent off on its next request. API keys are deleted under Settings → API keys.
Use Paperclip’s approval workflow for anything that publishes, and give each agent only the keys it needs. A read-only reporting agent can use OAuth with Read-only access ticked.
Paperclip or another AI tool?
Every one of them connects to the same SociaHive account.
| Agent | Kind | How it connects | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Paperclip | Autonomous agent | Through each agent’s runtime, e.g. claude mcp add in Claude Code | Teams of agents where one handles posting and reporting |
| OpenAI dots | Autonomous agent | Custom MCP server added in ChatGPT, then allowed for the dot | Watching your calendar and automations between check-ins |
| Claude Cowork | Autonomous agent | Custom connector, added by URL in Customize → Connectors | Recurring jobs: weekly reports and a month of posts from a brief |
| OpenClaw | Autonomous agent | Remote MCP server (Streamable HTTP) in mcp.servers | Posting and checking on your accounts from a chat app |
| ChatGPT | Chat assistant | A custom MCP plugin on chatgpt.com, with the SociaHive server address | Writing captions and scheduling them in the same chat |
| Claude Code | Coding agent | The SociaHive plugin, or claude mcp add with the server address | Bulk work from files: CSVs, changelogs, release notes |
What does it cost?
Paperclip is free and open source. You pay for the model providers your agents use and for the machine or cloud host that runs them.
On SociaHive, MCP access is part of the 7-day trial and every paid plan, from Creator up. There is no extra charge per tool call. See plans.
Included in the trial.
And on every paid plan. 7-day free trial for the paid features. No credit card required.
Connect PaperclipTroubleshooting Paperclip.
- The agent says it has no SociaHive tools.
- The server was added for a different OS user. Run claude mcp add as the user that runs the agent’s heartbeats, then check claude mcp list.
- OAuth works when you test it but not during heartbeats.
- The sign-in has to happen once as the heartbeat user. On a headless host, use the API key from a Paperclip secret instead.
- The agent says the sociahive command is missing.
- The CLI is installed on another machine. Install it with npm install -g sociahive where that agent runs.
- It asks me to upgrade
- MCP access is part of the SociaHive trial and every paid plan. On the free plan the agent can connect, but each request answers with an upgrade link.
- An account is missing
- The agent only sees accounts connected in SociaHive. Connect it under Connected accounts, then ask the agent to list your accounts again.
- A post did not go out
- Ask the agent for the post’s status, or open it in SociaHive. A failed post shows the platform’s reason, for example an expired login that needs reconnecting.
- It says it is not allowed to change anything
- You connected with read-only access. Remove SociaHive under Settings → Connected apps and connect again without ticking it.
FAQ
How do I connect SociaHive to Paperclip?
Add the SociaHive MCP server to the runtime one of your agents uses, such as Claude Code, and keep the API key as a Paperclip secret. Paperclip then launches that agent with SociaHive available.
Is Paperclip the same as OpenClaw?
No. OpenClaw is a personal assistant you chat with. Paperclip coordinates many agents, and it can launch an OpenClaw Gateway as one of them.
Which Paperclip agents can use SociaHive?
Any agent whose runtime supports remote MCP servers, such as Claude Code or Codex. Each agent you want posting needs SociaHive added in its own runtime.
Can several agents share one SociaHive account?
Yes. Give them the same key, or separate keys from the same account, and they see the same accounts, drafts and calendar. Separate keys let you revoke one agent without the others.
Which platforms can Paperclip agents post to?
Those you connect in SociaHive, out of 22, including Instagram, Threads, Pinterest and WordPress. X needs a paid SociaHive plan.
Can it post or change things without asking me?
Automations it builds start as drafts, with every step written out, until they are turned on. Publishing a post right away needs your yes in the chat. If you only want it to look, tick “Read-only access” when you connect: it can read everything and change nothing.
Which plans include it?
The 7-day trial and every paid plan. On the free plan your assistant can still connect, but each request answers with a link to upgrade instead of running.
How do I disconnect it?
Open Settings → Connected apps in SociaHive and revoke it. It is cut off on its very next request. You can also remove the connector in your assistant.
