Telegram MCP server for Claude, ChatGPT and other AI tools
A Telegram MCP server gives an AI assistant tools to work with Telegram. SociaHive's hosted server at https://www.sociahive.com/api/mcp lets Claude or ChatGPT build automations for your Telegram bot: replies, commands, buttons and questions. They start as drafts. You review them, then turn them on.

Is there an official Telegram MCP server?
We found none. Searching Telegram's own developer pages (core.telegram.org and telegram.org) on 2026-10-19 turned up the Bot API and the client API, but no MCP server. Every Telegram MCP server we found is a community project. Some wrap the Bot API; others log in as your personal account. SociaHive works with Telegram bots only: you connect a bot token, and one server also covers Instagram, WhatsApp, Messenger and scheduling.

Telegram MCP server on GitHub: bot or personal account?
The first thing to check in any Telegram MCP repo is how it signs in. There are two very different kinds. Bot servers use a token from @BotFather and act as a bot. User-account servers use your phone number and act as you.
Telegram describes the split itself. The Bot API is "an HTTP-based interface created for developers keen on building bots for Telegram." The separate client API (MTProto) is for building full Telegram apps.
Example of the second kind. dryeab/mcp-telegram is "Built with Telethon". You need an API ID and hash from my.telegram.org, then log in with your phone number, the code Telegram sends, and your 2FA password if set. It can send, edit and delete messages and search chats. Its README warns: "Misuse of this tool may result in account restrictions."
What this means. A personal-account server can read and write everything you can. That is powerful, and the risk is yours. Its keys sit in a plain config file on your computer.
A bot token only controls the bot. SociaHive uses that route: the bot, not you.
Can Claude Code use a Telegram MCP server?
Yes. Claude Code can connect to any remote MCP server, so it can use SociaHive's for your Telegram bot. Add https://www.sociahive.com/api/mcp once and sign in. Then ask in plain language: "On my Telegram bot, reply to 'hours' with our opening hours and a button."
Claude Code builds a draft automation. You read it, change what you want, and ask it to turn it on. Results come back through the same server, so you can ask how many people used it.
What it will not do. It does not read your Telegram chats, post to your channels or message people. Many community servers do those things, so pick by the job. If you want an assistant that chats in Telegram for you, a personal-account tool is the match. If you want a bot that answers customers by the rules you approved, SociaHive is.
ChatGPT works the same way through its connector settings. Setup steps: Claude Code and ChatGPT. Telegram needs the Pro plan; the 7-day trial needs no card.
Telegram limits your AI should know
| Plan | Telegram automation is on Pro ($149/mo) and up |
|---|---|
| Account | A Telegram bot, connected with the token from @BotFather |
| Who can chat | Bots cannot start conversations; a person must message the bot or add it to a group first |
| Telegram sending limits | Telegram advises about one message per second in a single chat and 20 messages a minute in a group |
| Review step | New automations start as drafts; nothing runs until you turn it on |
| Collected data | The AI sees field names and counts, not the values |
What it can't do on Telegram
- Connect a personal Telegram account.
- Read your chats, groups or channels.
- Post to Telegram channels or groups from the AI, not today.
- Send one-off or bulk messages.
- Join groups or scrape members.
Run Telegram from your AI.
The MCP server is in the trial and every paid plan. 7-day free trial. No credit card required.

Is there an official Telegram MCP server?
We found none. On 2026-10-19 Telegram's developer pages listed the Bot API and the client API (MTProto, TDLib), but no MCP server. Servers you find on GitHub and in MCP directories are community projects, so check who maintains one and how it signs in.
What is a Telegram MCP server?
It is a server that gives an AI assistant tools for Telegram. Community ones use a bot token or log in as your account. SociaHive's hosted server builds and monitors automations for your Telegram bot. The assistant calls those tools while you chat.
Can Claude read my Telegram messages through SociaHive?
No. SociaHive works with Telegram bots, not personal accounts, and the AI cannot read your chats or channels. It can build and run bot automations, and read results such as run counts and the names of collected fields.
Is a personal-account Telegram MCP safe?
It carries risk. These servers act as you, and one popular README says "Misuse of this tool may result in account restrictions." Telegram's API terms can end API access, so read them first. A bot token limits the damage to the bot.
Do I need a paid plan for Telegram?
Yes, for automations. Telegram automation is on Pro ($149/mo) and up, and MCP access needs the trial or a paid plan. The 7-day trial needs no card. You connect a bot with the token from @BotFather.
