Pick one and watch it get built

Your TikTok is not getting views for one of two reasons: TikTok limited it, or viewers did not watch enough of it to push it further. You can find out which in a few taps, because TikTok tells you when a video is ineligible for the For You feed.

Check that first. TikTok says a video with few views does not necessarily mean it broke a rule.

Why is my TikTok not getting views? The causes TikTok names

TikTok's own pages point to five causes: the video is ineligible for the For You feed, your account is, the video is unoriginal, it was removed after review, or viewers simply did not engage. Each has a different fix.

CauseWhat TikTok saysWhat to do
Video ineligible for the For You feedThe post will not be displayed in the For You feed, and you can see the reason in analyticsRead the notice, then appeal if you think it is wrong
Account ineligibleIf you repeatedly post unsuitable content, your account and posts will not appear in the For You feed and are harder to find in searchOpen the notice in your Inbox or on your profile and appeal
Unoriginal contentContent is ineligible for the For You feed if it includes unoriginal or reused material without anything newPost your own footage, or add something real to what you reuse
Removed after reviewContent under review may be removed or made ineligible, and you are notifiedAppeal from the notification
Viewers did not engageTikTok ranks content on predicted interest, and watching in full or skipping both count as signalsRework the opening and the topic

Even a video that never reaches the For You feed can still be found through search or your profile, according to TikTok.

How to check if TikTok limited your video

You can see an ineligible decision only if analytics is switched on, and analytics only covers videos posted after you enable it. TikTok documents the full path on its content violations page.

  1. Tap Profile at the bottom of the TikTok app.
  2. Tap the Menu button, then select TikTok Studio.
  3. Tap Get started within Analytics, then tap Turn on.
  4. Open the post, then tap More insights or the More options button and choose Analytics.
  5. Tap the notification for the ineligible post and read the feedback.

If you disagree with the decision, TikTok's page says you can submit an appeal, and a successful appeal makes the post eligible again. For an account-level notice, tap the notification in your Inbox or the Ineligible for recommendation notice on your profile, review the videos, then tap Appeal.

No notice means TikTok did not restrict the video. The cause is then viewer behavior, not a penalty.

TikTok not getting views after an hour or a day

Do not judge a video after an hour: TikTok says analytics data may take 1 to 2 days to update.

Wait for the numbers to settle before you delete anything. If the dashboard still shows little and there is no ineligible notice, the cause is the video itself, so work on the next one.

How to get more views on TikTok

Fix what TikTok says matters most: whether people keep watching. TikTok states that user interactions, which can include time spent watching a video, are usually weighted more heavily than other factors.

  • Put the point of the video in the first seconds, so a viewer has a reason not to swipe.
  • Make videos longer than one minute when the topic supports it. TikTok's audience-growth advice lists this, along with posting high-quality content regularly.
  • Reply to comments and go live. TikTok lists engaging with viewers as the first step to knowing your audience.
  • Collaborate through Duet, Stitch or LIVE with creators in your community.
  • Use specific hashtags that describe the video. They are one signal among many; see top TikTok hashtags.

To post regularly, compare the best TikTok scheduling tools. If your covers look cropped, check TikTok image sizes. Frequently Asked Questions

How do I know if my TikTok is shadowbanned?

TikTok's help pages describe videos and accounts being made ineligible for recommendation rather than shadowbanned, and say you are notified. With analytics on, an ineligible video carries a notice in its Analytics. No notice and low views means no restriction is shown for that video.

What is the 3-second rule on TikTok?

TikTok's recommendation page names no 3-second threshold. It says watching a video in full or skipping it are signals, and that time spent watching is generally weighted heavily. So the opening seconds matter most, because they decide whether anyone stays.

Why did my last video do well and this one flop?

Because TikTok ranks each video against each viewer's predicted interest, and it says how important each factor is can change over time. A hit does not set a baseline. TikTok also tries to diversify feeds, so a topic that worked once is not guaranteed the same push twice.

Can I get my For You eligibility back?

Yes. TikTok says it may automatically restore an account to good standing at any time, depending on how much of its content is unsuitable for the For You feed. Otherwise you can appeal from the Inbox notification or the notice under your username. A successful appeal on a single post makes it eligible again.
