Pick one and watch it get built
You can schedule tweets, which X now calls posts, from the X web composer: write the post, click the calendar icon, pick a date and time, then click Schedule. On mobile, what you see depends on your app version, and a scheduling tool works on any device. This guide sits inside our social media content scheduling guide.
How to schedule a tweet on X (desktop)
To schedule a tweet on desktop, open the X post composer on x.com, write your post, click the calendar icon, choose a date and time, click Confirm, then click Schedule. Sprout Social documents this flow. X's own help center describes scheduling only for the ads Composer, so check the icon names in your own composer.
- Go to x.com on a computer and click into the post box.
- Write your post and add any media or poll.
- Click the calendar icon in the composer's bottom toolbar.
- Choose a date and time, then click Confirm.
- Click Schedule.
Use the X character counter to check your length before you queue it.
Where to find scheduled posts on X, and what changes on mobile
Microposter reports that on the web you click the calendar icon in the composer again, then choose Scheduled posts at the bottom of the pop-up. That list is where you manage everything waiting to publish. X's help center does not document this path for the standard composer, so labels may differ.
Mobile varies. Sprout Social says native scheduling is desktop only. Roboin reported on September 7, 2026 that X began rolling scheduled posts out to its mobile app, and found the feature in the iOS app but not on Android. Microposter says the mobile app has no scheduling in the main composer: you save a draft, then look in your drafts for the scheduling option.
In your own app, look for a calendar or clock icon in the composer, then check your drafts. If neither is there, use x.com in your phone's browser with the desktop site, or a scheduling tool. A draft is not a scheduled post: it waits until you open the app and tap Post.
How far ahead can you schedule posts on X?
Sprout Social reports that native X scheduling reaches up to 18 months ahead, one post at a time, with no bulk option. X's help center does not state this limit, so treat 18 months as a reported figure.

Scheduling X posts with a tool
Native scheduling is free and good for a handful of posts. A scheduling tool is better when you post to several networks, plan a calendar or work from your phone. SociaHive schedules posts to X on paid plans and does not schedule threads; see its content scheduler for the other platforms it covers.
What to schedule on X
Schedule posts whose timing does not depend on breaking news, such as tips, links to new content and recurring series. Leave reactions and live commentary to real-time posting, and see the best time to post on social media for timing.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is it free to schedule tweets on X?
Yes, Microposter calls the scheduler built into x.com free and says it is a good starting point for queuing a handful of posts. Third-party tools set their own pricing, so check what a tool's free plan includes before you rely on it.
Can I schedule a tweet with an image or a poll?
Yes, on the web composer. Microposter's walkthrough says you compose the post as usual, with text, an image or GIF, or a poll, then use the calendar icon instead of the Post button. Check that the media shows in the composer preview before you confirm the schedule.
Can I edit or delete a scheduled tweet on X?
Yes. Microposter says the Scheduled posts list lets you edit a post's content, move its publication time or delete it. Open the list from the calendar icon in the composer. If you make changes close to the publish time, confirm the new time before you leave the page.
Does X show my time zone when I schedule?
Yes. Microposter says X displays your current time zone in the scheduling menu, which helps prevent mix-ups. Check it before you click Confirm, especially if you travel or manage an account for an audience in another region, so the post goes out when you expect rather than hours early or late.
