Short answer: weekday mornings for X and Threads, late weekday mornings for Pinterest, and weekend evenings for Bluesky. In 2026 studies, X peaks Tuesday at 9 a.m. and Threads Thursday at 9 a.m. (Buffer), Pinterest midweek from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. (Sprout Social), and Bluesky Saturday at 5 p.m. (Buffer).
Best times to post at a glance
The four networks behave differently. X and Threads are news and conversation feeds that people check at the start of the workday. Pinterest is a planning tool. Bluesky is used in downtime, which is why its best slots fall on weekends.
| Platform | Best slot | Best days | Avoid | Study |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| X | Tuesday 9 a.m. | Wednesday, Tuesday, Thursday | Evenings, Friday, Saturday | Buffer, Mar 2026 |
| X | Tue to Thu, 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. | Tuesday to Thursday | Saturday | Sprout Social, 2026 |
| Threads | Thursday 9 a.m. | Wednesday, Thursday, Tuesday | Evenings, Saturday | Buffer, Feb 2026 |
| Tue to Thu, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. | Weekdays | Weekends | Sprout Social, 2026 | |
| Bluesky | Saturday 5 p.m. | Saturday, Sunday | Weekday late mornings and midday | Buffer, Aug 2026 |
Treat every row as a first test. Buffer measured posts its users scheduled; Sprout measured brand profiles in its platform. Your own followers may keep other hours.
Best time to post on X (Twitter)
Tuesday at 9 a.m. is the top slot in Buffer's 2026 analysis of 8.7 million posts, followed by Wednesday at 10 a.m. and Wednesday at 9 a.m. Buffer calls weekday mid-mornings, 9 a.m. to 11 a.m., the most reliable window, and found evenings from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m. the worst on every day. Its best days were Wednesday, Tuesday and Thursday; Friday and Saturday were weakest.
Sprout Social's 2026 data, from nearly 2 billion engagements, points later: 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. Sprout rates Friday afternoon as moderate, Sunday from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. as moderate, and says to avoid Saturday.
| Day | Buffer, best hours | Sprout Social, best window |
|---|---|---|
| Monday | 9 a.m., 10 a.m., 8 a.m. | 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. and 5 p.m. |
| Tuesday | 9 a.m. (top slot of the week) | 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. |
| Wednesday | 10 a.m., 9 a.m. | 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. |
| Thursday | 9 a.m., 10 a.m., 8 a.m. | 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. |
| Friday | 9 a.m., 10 a.m., 11 a.m. (weak day) | 12 p.m. to 6 p.m., moderate |
| Saturday | 9 a.m., 10 a.m., 11 a.m. (worst day) | Avoid |
| Sunday | 9 a.m., 10 a.m., 8 a.m. (slow day) | 2 p.m. to 6 p.m., moderate |
The two studies overlap only at the edges, so test one morning slot (Tuesday 9 a.m.) against one afternoon slot (Wednesday 1 p.m.). Both report local times. Check post length first with the X character counter, or read our guide to the X character limit.
How many times a day should I post on X? Neither study sets a daily number. X is a fast feed, so posts age quickly; pick a pace you can sustain and spread posts across your best windows rather than stacking them.
Best time to post on Threads
Thursday at 9 a.m. had the highest median engagement in Buffer's February 2026 analysis of 2.5 million Threads posts, followed by Wednesday at 12 p.m. and Wednesday at 9 a.m. Weekday mornings from 6 a.m. to 11 a.m. were the strongest window overall. The best days were Wednesday, Thursday and Tuesday.
The weakest times were evenings from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m. and weekends, Saturday most of all. Buffer's top hours by weekday:
| Day | Buffer's best hours on Threads |
|---|---|
| Wednesday | 12 p.m., then 9 a.m. and 10 a.m. |
| Thursday | 9 a.m., then 10 a.m. and 11 a.m. |
| Friday | 10 a.m., then 9 a.m. and 11 a.m. |
What is the best time to post on Threads on Sunday? Sunday is among the weakest days in Buffer's data. If you post then, morning is a better bet than evening, in line with the platform-wide pattern.
Buffer measured median engagement (likes, replies and reposts). In a separate February 2026 analysis of 128,000 posts, Buffer also reported that replying to comments boosted Threads engagement by 42%, so be around after you post. Keep within the limit with the Threads character counter.
Best time to post on Pinterest
Sprout Social's 2026 study puts the best Pinterest times at Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., local time, with weekends the worst days. Sprout's reading is that Pinterest users are planners who look for ideas in the early-afternoon lull.
| Day | Sprout Social's best Pinterest times |
|---|---|
| Monday | 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. and 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. |
| Tuesday | 7 a.m. and 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. |
| Wednesday | 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. |
| Thursday | 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. |
| Friday | 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. |
| Saturday and Sunday | Weakest |
Pinterest is less sensitive to the minute than X. People come to Pinterest to search and save ideas, so the image, title and description matter at least as much as the hour you post. Size pins with the Pinterest photo resizer and our Pinterest image sizes guide.
How do I get Pinterest posts noticed? Post in a midweek window, use a tall image, and write a title and description with the words people search for. Posting regularly matters more than any single slot.
Best time to post on Bluesky
Saturday at 5 p.m. was the best time in Buffer's August 2026 study of more than 3 million Bluesky posts, with an engagement rate of 6.89%. Saturday at 6 p.m. (6.81%) and Sunday at 9 a.m. (6.77%) came next. The best window was 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. on weekends.
Bluesky runs almost opposite to X and Threads:
- Best days: Saturday averaged a 6.17% engagement rate and Sunday 6.05%. Monday was the strongest weekday at 4.32%, and Thursday the weakest day.
- Best weekday slots: evenings, roughly 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., after work.
- Quietest times: weekday late mornings and midday, around 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Buffer says these times are adjusted to the audience's local time, and calls them "guidance, not gospel" because the network is young and moving fast. Check length with the Bluesky character counter. If you are choosing between the two newer networks, see Bluesky vs Threads.
How to find your own best time on each network
The studies give you a starting point. Your audience decides the rest.
- Start with one slot per network from the table above.
- Add a second slot in a different part of the day, for example a morning and an afternoon on X.
- Run each slot for about four weeks with similar posts. Four weeks is a practical rule, not a figure from the studies.
- Compare engagement per post, not totals, so a busy week does not skew the result.
- Keep the winner, then test the next pair.
Running this on four networks by hand is a lot of alarms. SociaHive's content scheduler schedules to X, Threads, Pinterest and Bluesky, plus LinkedIn personal profiles, Instagram, Facebook, TikTok and YouTube, from one calendar. Each network gets its own time, so you can post to Threads at 9 a.m. and Bluesky at 5 p.m. from the same draft. The free plan covers 30 posts a month on every network except X, which is on paid plans. For the other big networks, see the best time to post on social media and the best time to post on LinkedIn.
Frequently Asked Questions
What are peak posting hours?
Peak hours are the times a study found posts got the most engagement. On X and Threads in Buffer's 2026 data they are weekday mornings, roughly 9 a.m. to 11 a.m.; on Bluesky they are weekend evenings, around 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.; on Pinterest Sprout puts them at 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. midweek.
Do these times apply to my time zone?
Yes. Buffer says its X and Bluesky times are adjusted to local time, and Sprout lists local times, so 9 a.m. means 9 a.m. where your audience lives. If your followers are in another region, schedule for their clock, not yours.
Is the best time to post on X the same as on Threads?
Close. Both peak on weekday mornings in Buffer's 2026 data: Tuesday at 9 a.m. on X and Thursday at 9 a.m. on Threads, and both are weakest in the evening and on Saturday. Sprout's X data favours afternoons instead, so test both.
Why is Bluesky's best time so different?
Buffer's reading is that people use Bluesky in their downtime, while X and Threads are about news, which people check at the start of the workday. That is why Bluesky's top slots fall on weekend afternoons and weekday evenings.
Is Pinterest still worth posting to in 2026?
That depends on your audience, and no study here measures it. What the data does show is that Pinterest users browse to plan, mostly midweek, so it suits visual products, recipes, home and style ideas that people save for later.
