Every Pinterest image size
Pinterest is a grid of tall images, so the pin shape matters more here than on most platforms.
Pin (2:3)
1000 × 1500 px, 2:3 The standard pin.
Square pin
1000 × 1000 px, 1:1 Takes less space in the grid.
Profile picture
400 × 400 px, 1:1 Shown as a circle.
Turning a normal photo into a pin
Most product and blog photos are landscape. Cropped to 2:3, a landscape photo keeps only a narrow vertical slice of the middle. If the product sits off center, crop it yourself first or shoot a vertical version.
Many pins put a short headline on the image itself, because people scan the grid without reading descriptions. If you add text, add it after resizing so it is placed for the final shape and not cut off.
Keeping boards active without daily work
Pinning a little and often keeps your boards in front of people for longer than posting a batch once. Resize a set of images in one sitting, write the pin titles and descriptions, and spread them across the following days.
The pin description can be up to 800 characters. Put the most useful words in the first sentence, since that is what people see first.
