Example: a YouTube description
Here is a draft for a video about making cold brew at home. The first line is 75 characters, so the whole hook shows before "...more". The full description is 552 characters, far under the 5,000-character limit, and ends with three hashtags.
Video description
Make smooth cold brew at home with a jar, a sieve and 12 hours of patience. In this video I show the whole cold brew process with kitchen tools you already own: how much coffee to use, how long to steep it, and how to store the concentrate so it stays fresh for a week. No special equipment needed. How YouTube shows a description
Viewers see the first line or two under the video and must tap "...more" for the rest, so the hook does the work. Search engines and YouTube read the whole description, which is where the summary and its keywords help.
Timestamps that follow the chapter rules turn into chapters on the progress bar. Hashtags you add appear in the description, and up to three of them show near the title. Links become clickable once your channel meets YouTube's requirements for links.
