What a channel description is for
Your channel description is read by people who liked a video and opened your channel to see if there is more. It helps them most when it describes your topic plainly, in the words people use to search for it, which also tells YouTube what the channel is about.
With 1,000 characters you have room for a short paragraph or two, far more than a social bio. Use it, but put the most important sentence first: that is what shows before someone expands the description.
Cooking channel
Weeknight dinners that take 30 minutes or less, for people who cook after work. New video every Tuesday and Friday. Subscribe for a full week of meal ideas each month. Business: [email protected]
Tech reviews
Honest reviews of budget laptops and phones, used for a month before I say anything. One review a week, plus a monthly "what I would buy" roundup.
Description, handle and links
Your handle (3 to 30 characters, at youtube.com/@yourhandle) is how people tag and find you. Links to your site, store or other socials go in the Links section of your channel, not in the description, so you do not need to paste raw URLs into the text.
That frees the description for words. A sentence about your upload schedule is worth including: it tells new visitors what subscribing gets them.
Keep the upload schedule you promise
A description that says "new video every Tuesday" works only if Tuesday comes with a video. SociaHive schedules YouTube uploads with your posts on Instagram, TikTok and other platforms, so a batch recorded on the weekend goes out on the days you promised.
