Telegram's rules are stricter than most
Telegram usernames need at least 5 characters and must start with a letter, so short handles that work on Instagram or TikTok are often too short here. The generator applies both rules: an idea that would start with a number or an underscore is trimmed or left out.
Only letters, numbers and underscores are allowed. Periods and hyphens are refused, so ideas use underscores or run words together ("maya_travels", "mayatravels").
Names for channels and groups
Many people looking for Telegram names are starting a channel. A channel username is its public address, so it should say what the channel is about in a word or two: "lisbon_food", "daily_spanish". Put the topic in the keyword field and the audience or place in the niche field.
The channel's title can be longer and use spaces, so save the full title for that and keep the username short enough to say aloud or print on a poster.
