Bold and italic in LinkedIn posts
LinkedIn shows the first few lines of a post before "see more", and that opening decides whether people read on. A short bold first line works like a headline in the feed.
Inside a longer post, bold labels such as "The problem", "What we tried" and "What worked" make 3,000 characters easier to scan. Keep the sentences themselves plain so they read naturally and are found by search.
Headline, About and search
Your 220-character headline appears next to your name almost everywhere on LinkedIn. One styled phrase can make it distinct, but job titles, skills and company names should stay in plain letters, because that is what recruiters and customers type into search.
The About section is longer and a good place for bold section titles. Avoid styling your name, contact details or anything someone needs to copy.
