How this actually works
This uses the same Unicode Fraktur range as the gothic generator, with bold Fraktur shown first because it is closer to the heavy tattoo-style lettering people usually want from "Old English". Worth stating plainly: Old English lettering and gothic blackletter are the same characters, not two different alphabets. It is also unrelated to Old English the language — Anglo-Saxon was written in a different script entirely.
Where it breaks
- Legibility drops sharply at small sizes, and several capitals are easy to confuse.
- There are no Fraktur digits, so numbers appear in normal type.
- Because it is the same character set as gothic, do not expect a different result — only a different default emphasis.
