Yes, you can schedule Instagram Stories, and the route that works is Meta Business Suite. Instagram also says scheduling is available to accounts that meet its eligibility requirements in the app. SociaHive does not schedule Stories; it schedules feed posts.
How to schedule an Instagram Story with Meta Business Suite
Meta Business Suite is Meta's free tool for managing Facebook and Instagram. To schedule a Story there, click Create story, choose where to post, add up to 10 photos or videos, and pick Schedule under Scheduling options. Meta documents this on its desktop Stories help page.
Before you begin, Meta says you need full control or content permission for the Page or Instagram account you want to post to.
- Go to Meta Business Suite and click Create story.
- Under Post to, choose your Instagram profile, Facebook Page, or both.
- Click Add photo/video to upload up to 10 photos or videos.
- Click Edit on each item to crop, trim, or add text, mentions or stickers.
- Under Scheduling options, select Schedule and choose the date and time.
- Click Schedule.
Social Media Examiner adds that your Instagram account must first be connected in Business Suite settings, and that a personal account is converted to a professional account during setup.
How to reschedule or delete a scheduled Story
To change a scheduled Story, open the Content tab in Meta Business Suite, click Stories, select Scheduled, pick the Story, and use the ... icon to publish it now, reschedule it or delete it. This is the path in Meta's help article.
Social Media Examiner warns that deleting a scheduled Story cannot be undone, so reschedule it instead if you may still want it.
Scheduling Stories inside the Instagram app
Instagram's own Stories guide says scheduling is available to accounts that meet its eligibility requirements. Instagram does not list those requirements.
If the option is missing in your app, use Meta Business Suite instead. To reshare a feed post as a Story, see how to share a post to your Instagram Story.

Can third-party apps schedule Instagram Stories?
Some tools only send a reminder when it is time to post, and you finish the Story in the app. MeetEdgar describes this reminder workflow, and a note on its page says it now also offers direct scheduling for Stories. Check which one a tool does before you pay.
For feed content, see our guide to scheduling Instagram posts. To post a Story right now instead, see how to post a Story on Instagram.
When should you post Stories?
There is no single best time for every account. Check your own Insights and read our best time to post on Instagram guide. For a wider routine, see the social media scheduling guide.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I schedule Instagram Stories from my computer?
Yes, in Meta Business Suite in a web browser. Meta says you can also click Add link on a Story to add a URL viewers can visit when they swipe up. Third-party desktop schedulers may or may not support Stories, so confirm before you subscribe. For the full steps, see how to add a link to an Instagram Story.
Can I schedule Stories for a personal Instagram account?
Not directly in Business Suite. Social Media Examiner says a personal account is converted to a professional account when you connect it to Business Suite. Instagram's in-app scheduling is limited to accounts that meet its eligibility requirements, which its page does not list, so check your account type first.
Do scheduling apps post Stories for me?
It depends on the app. MeetEdgar describes a workflow where it sends a notification when it is time to post and you finish the Story yourself, and a note on its page says it now offers direct posting and scheduling for Stories. Read an app's Instagram section before paying.
Why can't I schedule Instagram posts anymore?
Instagram's page ties scheduling to accounts that meet its eligibility requirements, so an account that does not qualify will not see the option. Beyond that, Instagram gives no list of reasons. Meta Business Suite is the documented alternative, and it needs full control or content permission on the account.
