Pick one and watch it get built
You can link Instagram to TikTok by adding your Instagram URL as a website link on your TikTok profile, but only if you have at least 1,000 followers or a Verified Business Account. The old "Add Instagram" button that logged you into Instagram is no longer supported.
Many guides still describe that button. If you cannot find it, that is why.
How to link Instagram to TikTok
TikTok's help page on profile links says you can add a website link if you have at least 1,000 followers, or a Verified Business Account. Your Instagram profile URL counts, because TikTok says links can point to "other social channels".
- Open the TikTok app and tap Profile at the bottom.
- Tap Edit profile.
- Next to Links, tap Add.
- Follow the steps to link your website, entering your Instagram profile URL, for example instagram.com/yourname.
Why there is no Add Instagram button
TikTok states that it no longer supports links that open or log you into other social media apps. You can still add links to those platforms' websites, which is the method above.
Older guides, such as Adweek's, walk through Edit profile, then Add Instagram, then an Instagram login. Beplan says the button is almost always reserved for Business Accounts. TikTok's current page describes no such button, so a missing option is expected.
What a TikTok profile link does and does not do
A profile link opens a page in TikTok's in-app browser when someone taps it, according to TikTok. It is only a link: TikTok's page describes no account connection, follower merge or cross-posting.
TikTok also limits how far people can browse from your link. It applies safety measures to external link chains, so a viewer may be asked to open the page in their phone's browser. It recommends direct links so people reach the page in a few steps.
If you are under 1,000 followers and have no Verified Business Account, you cannot add the link. You can still write your Instagram handle in your bio, which people can type into a search. Our TikTok bio templates and the free TikTok bio generator have wording for that.

How to link TikTok to Instagram
Instagram lets you add up to 5 websites to your profile, and anyone, on or off Instagram, can see them, Instagram says. Your TikTok profile URL goes in as one of them.
- Tap Profile or your profile picture in the bottom right of Instagram.
- Tap Edit profile.
- Tap Links, then tap Add external link.
- Enter your TikTok profile URL, for example tiktok.com/@yourname.
- Tap Done.
To change the order, go back to Links, tap Options, then Reorder links, and drag a link up or down. Put the link you most want clicked first. The free Instagram bio generator can help you write the line that points to it, and our Instagram growth strategy covers what else to do with the bio.
If the link will not save
- No Links option on TikTok: you are under 1,000 followers and not a Verified Business Account. Nothing in settings changes that.
- TikTok will not open the Instagram app from your link: that is expected. TikTok says links that open other apps are no longer supported, so the link opens a web page.
- Instagram shows no Links option: update the app. Instagram's help page notes the feature is available in the Instagram app on Android and iPhone, not on computers.
Frequently Asked Questions
How do I sync my accounts on TikTok?
TikTok's help page describes no account sync with Instagram. The only documented connection is a website link on your profile pointing to your Instagram. Your followers, posts and likes stay separate on each app, so you post to each one yourself.
Why does TikTok ask me to open a link in my browser?
TikTok limits how people browse external link chains inside its in-app browser, to protect them from scams, phishing and malware. It applies this to all accounts. Viewers may see a prompt to open the page in their device's browser instead. TikTok recommends adding direct links so people reach the page quickly.
Can I report a link on someone's TikTok profile?
Yes, if you believe it breaks the Community Guidelines. Open the link from the creator's profile in the TikTok app, tap the More options button at the top, tap Report, then follow the steps to submit your report. TikTok's help page lists these steps for suspicious links on profiles.
Is my TikTok link visible to people who do not use Instagram?
Yes. Instagram says anyone, on or off Instagram, can see the websites listed on your profile. The link is public on your profile, so only add URLs you are happy for any visitor to see, and review the list now and then for links you no longer use, since an old link keeps sending people somewhere you may have stopped posting.
