Pick one and watch it get built

You can schedule Discord messages in four ways: Discord's built-in scheduled messages (a beta only some users have), a scheduler bot, a webhook triggered by a timer, or a scheduler such as SociaHive that posts through a webhook. Discord's help center says its own feature is a beta given to a small random group, so most people still need one of the other three.

Can you schedule a message on Discord?

Maybe. Discord lists "Scheduled messages" as an active beta feature: "set a time in the future to send your messages in DMs and channels." Discord also says beta features go to "a small, random group of users," and you cannot request access or be added by support (Discord Beta Programs FAQ).

So the honest answer is that it depends on whether your account is in the test group. If you have it, you will see a beta label on the feature. We could not open Discord's separate "Schedule messages" help page to check its steps, so we do not describe them here. Check your own client.

Not the same thing: Discord's Scheduled Events are for events with RSVPs and a start time, not for posting a message at a set time.

If you do not have the beta, use one of the options below.

How to schedule Discord posts with a scheduler (step by step)

The steps below use a webhook, which lets a scheduler post to one channel without adding a bot to your server. You need permission to manage webhooks in the channel.

  1. Create a webhook. Open the channel, choose Edit Channel, then Integrations, then Webhooks, and create one.
  2. Copy the webhook URL. Treat it like a password, because anyone with it can post to that channel.
  3. Connect the channel in SociaHive. Paste the URL into the Discord connection. One webhook equals one channel.
  4. Write the message. Keep it under 2,000 characters and add up to 10 images or videos if you want.
  5. Pick the date and time, then schedule it. The message goes out at that time.

SociaHive's limits for Discord are 2,000 characters, up to 10 attachments (JPEG, PNG, WebP images, and MP4, MOV, WebM video) and 20 MB per file by default. You can check length first with the Discord character counter.

Discord scheduler bots: what they do

A Discord scheduler bot is an app you invite to your server. You give it a channel, a message and a time, usually with a slash command or a dashboard, and it posts for you. Directories such as top.gg list many of them under "message scheduling."

Bots can do more than a webhook: some repeat messages daily or weekly, and some post as themselves with embeds or buttons. Discord describes bot users as "a separate type of user dedicated to automation" (Discord developer docs).

What to check before inviting one. Read the permissions it asks for, see who runs it, and see what happens to your messages if the bot goes offline. We do not recommend a specific bot here because we have not tested them.

The tradeoff is trust. A bot in your server holds permissions inside it. If you only need messages to go out at set times, a webhook asks for less.

Schedule Discord messages with a webhook

A webhook is a URL that lets a program post to one channel. Discord calls webhooks "a low-effort way to post messages to channels in Discord," and a webhook message can hold up to 2,000 characters of text (Discord webhook docs).

A webhook posts the moment it is called. It has no timer of its own. To make it a message scheduler for Discord, something else has to call it at the right time: a cron job, a GitHub Action, an automation tool, or a scheduler like SociaHive.

If you write code, the pattern is a scheduled job that sends one POST request with the message. That is the cheapest route, and you own the reliability: if the job fails, nothing posts.

If you do not want to maintain that, use a scheduler that calls the webhook for you, as in the steps above.

Which Discord scheduler should you use?

Use Discord's own feature if you have the beta and only need to send your own messages later. Use a bot if you want recurring posts or rich features inside the server. Use a webhook scheduler if you want a queue across platforms and no bot in your server.

Where SociaHive fits. It schedules to a Discord channel through a webhook, alongside Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn and other platforms. It does not read your server, run commands, moderate or show message stats, and it cannot reply in threads. Pricing is on the pricing page, and the content scheduler page covers the rest.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can you schedule a message on Discord?

Only if you are in Discord's beta. Discord's help center lists "Scheduled messages" as a beta for a small, random group of users, and support cannot add you. If you do not see it, use a scheduler bot or a webhook scheduler.

Is there a message scheduler Discord bot?

Yes, many. Bot directories such as top.gg list scheduler bots that post a message to a channel at a time you set. We have not tested them, so check each bot's permissions and who maintains it before you invite one.

Can I schedule Discord posts for a different time zone?

Yes, with a scheduler. You pick the date and time when you set up the message, and it posts then. Check which time zone the tool uses before you schedule, so an evening announcement does not go out at the wrong hour.

Do I need a bot to schedule Discord messages?

No. A webhook can post to one channel without a bot user, and a scheduler can call it at the time you choose. A bot is only needed if you want features inside the server, such as slash commands.

Is a Discord webhook safe to share?

No. Anyone with the URL can post to that channel, so keep it private. If it leaks, delete the webhook in the channel's Integrations settings and create a new one.
