Pick one and watch it get built
A good Discord bio is a short About Me, up to 190 characters, that tells people in your servers what you play or make and how to reach you. Below are 60 original examples you can copy as they are or change to fit you, grouped by style, followed by what the About Me field supports and how to edit it.
If none of these sound like you, the Discord bio generator writes five new ones in the tone you pick, each checked against the 190-character limit.
What makes a Discord bio work
People don't find your Discord profile by scrolling a feed. They click your name because you just said something in a channel, joined their voice call or sent a friend request. Your About Me answers the question they have at that moment: who is this?
The bios that work best do one or two of these things:
- Say what you're into, so people know what to talk to you about
- Give a practical detail, like your time zone, region or the hours you're online
- Point somewhere else, like your stream, portfolio or other socials
- Set a boundary, like "no DMs for trades" or "ask before adding me"
Everything else, including jokes, quotes and decoration, is a bonus. Keep anything private out of it: anyone who shares a server with you can read your bio.
Short Discord bio ideas
Short bios read well on the small profile popout and leave room for a link or an emoji line under them.
- Here for the voice chats.
- Professional lurker.
- EU nights, mostly online after 8.
- Talk to me about books and bad movies.
- Learning Japanese, one kanji at a time.
- Probably in a queue right now.
- Quiet in text, loud in voice.
- Will join your server for the emojis.
- Night shift, so I reply at weird hours.
- Ask me about synths.
Funny Discord bio ideas
Funny bios work in gaming and hobby servers. Keep the joke about you, not about other people, so it still reads well in a server you joined last week.
- My K/D ratio is a private matter.
- I said "one more game" in 2023.
- Certified "I'm not mad, I'm just typing slowly."
- Fluent in sarcasm, conversational in English.
- Will carry you emotionally, not in ranked.
- My sleep schedule is a suggestion.
- Typing... (I am not typing.)
- Currently afk, possibly forever.
- I read the patch notes so you don't have to.
- Muted myself 40 minutes ago and kept talking.
Aesthetic Discord bio ideas
Aesthetic bios lean on soft symbols, line breaks and lowercase text. Use one or two symbols at most: each one takes characters out of your 190, and too many make the bio hard to read.
- ☾ quiet nights, loud playlists ☾
- ✿ soft hours, slow replies ✿
- 𖤐 collector of rainy days and long games
- ⋆ tea, sketchbooks, lofi on repeat ⋆
- ⟡ online, but in a dreamy way
- ♡ cozy games only, no sweats
- ☁ head in the clouds, feet in the server
- ✧ drawing things nobody asked for
- ˚ ༘ late night vc, early morning regret
- ✶ small server, big heart
For letters that look different, like 𝓼𝓬𝓻𝓲𝓹𝓽 or 𝕕𝕠𝕦𝕓𝕝𝕖-𝕤𝕥𝕣𝕦𝕔𝕜, use the Discord font generator. Keep styled letters to a word or two: screen readers read them badly, and a whole bio in them is hard to read.
Discord bio ideas for gamers
A gamer bio saves everyone a question. Name your main games, your rank or role if it matters, your region and when you play.
- Valorant, Diamond-ish. EU West, evenings. Duo queue welcome.
- Support main in every game. You're welcome.
- Minecraft builder, mostly survival. Ask me about redstone, I'll pretend to know.
- Speedrunning Celeste badly. Tips accepted.
- League, mid lane, NA. Flame me and I'll mute you, nothing personal.
- Raid leader on Tuesdays. Bring your own potions.
- Co-op games only. I'm here to have fun, not to win.
- Stardew farmer, Elden Ring tourist.
- Looking for a regular squad for Apex, ranked Thursday nights.
- Retro games, CRT setup, opinions about save states.

Discord bio ideas for creators
If you stream, make art, write code or run a community, your bio is a signpost. Say what you make, when, and where to find it. Links in your About Me are clickable, so one link is often all you need.
- Twitch streamer, mostly horror games. Live Mon, Wed, Fri.
- Digital artist. Commissions open twice a year, details in my link.
- Making a small indie game about frogs. Devlog in my connections.
- Video editor for gaming channels. DM for rates.
- Pixel artist. I'll draw your server icon if you ask nicely.
- Composer for indie games. Samples linked below.
- Mod for a few study servers. I usually reply within a day.
- Cosplayer, mostly fantasy. Builds and photos on Instagram.
- Python dev. Helping in the coding channels when I can.
- Writer of long fan fiction and short replies.
For anything with a business side, keep the boundary line in: "DM for rates" or "no unpaid requests" saves you a lot of back and forth.
Minimal Discord bio ideas
Minimal bios use one line and no decoration. They fit people who mostly use Discord for a few servers and don't want to explain themselves.
- hi.
- Here for the community.
- he/him · UTC+1
- Student. Gamer. Tired.
- Code, coffee, cats.
- Just here to listen.
- Designer.
- Berlin.
- Back soon.
- Not much to say, ask me anything.
What the About Me field supports
The About Me box is more flexible than most bio fields. Here is what you can use in it.
- Up to 190 characters. Spaces, line breaks, symbols and formatting marks all count. Check a draft with the Discord character counter before you paste it.
- Line breaks. You can split your bio over several lines, which is how most aesthetic bios are laid out.
- Discord markdown. The same formatting you use in chat works in your About Me. Type
**bold**,*italic*,__underline__,~~strikethrough~~or||spoiler||, and use backticks forinline code. A spoiler is a fun way to hide a joke or a fact until someone clicks it. - Links. Paste a full web address and it becomes clickable on your profile. Your linked accounts, like Twitch, Steam or YouTube, also show on your profile through Connections, so you don't need to spend characters on them.
- Emoji. Standard emoji work like anywhere else, and so do symbols copied from other text.
Formatting marks count toward the limit, so **bold** uses four characters more than the word alone. If you're right at 190, drop the formatting before you drop a word.
How to edit your Discord bio
On desktop or in a browser:
- Click the gear icon next to your name at the bottom left to open User Settings.
- Go to Profiles and open the User Profile tab.
- Type or paste your text into the About Me box. The preview on the right shows how it will look.
- Click Save Changes.
On the mobile app:
- Tap your avatar to open your profile.
- Tap Edit Profile.
- Type or paste into the About Me box, then save.
With Nitro you can also set a different profile for each server, including a separate About Me, so you can keep a formal bio in a work server and a silly one with your friends.
About Me, status and display name
Discord gives you several short text fields, and putting the right line in the right place makes each one work better.
- Username: your unique handle, 2 to 32 characters, lowercase letters, numbers, periods and underscores. If you need one, try the Discord name generator.
- Display name: the name people see in chat.
- Custom status: a short line under your name that you change often, like what you're doing right now.
- About Me: the steadier description of who you are.
A funny one-liner from the lists above often works better as a status than as a bio. Your About Me is the one place with room for real detail, so use it for that.
If your community also follows you outside Discord, SociaHive can schedule your posts to Instagram, TikTok, X and other platforms from one calendar. It does not post to Discord.
Frequently Asked Questions
How long can a Discord bio be?
Your About Me can be up to 190 characters. Spaces, line breaks, emoji, symbols and markdown marks like asterisks all count toward that limit.
Can you put links in a Discord bio?
Yes. A full web address pasted into your About Me becomes a clickable link on your profile. Linked accounts such as Twitch, Steam or YouTube can also be shown through Connections without using any of your 190 characters.
Does markdown work in a Discord About Me?
Yes. Bold, italic, underline, strikethrough, spoilers and inline code all work in your About Me the same way they work in chat. The formatting marks count toward the 190 characters.
What should I put in my Discord bio?
What people in your servers would want to know: what you play or make, your time zone or region, the languages you speak and where else to find you. Leave out anything private, since anyone who shares a server with you can read it.
How do I make my Discord bio aesthetic?
Use lowercase text, a line break or two and one or two soft symbols such as ☾, ✿ or ✧. Styled letters from a font generator can work for a single word, but too many make the bio hard to read and use up characters quickly.
Can I have a different bio in each server?
Yes, with Nitro. Server profiles let you set a separate About Me, avatar and banner for each server. Without Nitro you have one About Me that shows everywhere.
