Instagram QR Code Generator

Open your profile and tap Share profile, below your bio. Instagram shows your QR code there, and you can tap the code to change its colours, then download or share it. On some older app versions it is in the menu (the three lines at the top right) under QR code. The generator above makes the same kind of code from your username, with your own colours and a DM option.

Type your username above (with or without the @), keep "Instagram profile" selected, pick a colour for the code and the background, and tap Generate QR Code. Download the PNG and put it on a flyer, a menu, packaging or a slide. Anyone who scans it lands on your profile, in the Instagram app if they have it.

No. The code holds a plain link to your profile (instagram.com/yourname) or to a DM with you (ig.me/m/yourname), so it works as long as that link works. If you change your username, the old code points to the old name, so make a new code and replace the printed ones.

With the phone camera. On iPhone and most Android phones, open the camera, point it at the code and tap the link that appears. They do not need a QR app, and the link opens Instagram if it is installed or the Instagram website if it is not.

The profile code opens your profile, so people can look at your posts and follow you. The DM code opens a message thread with you, which suits a "message us to order" or "DM us for the menu" sign. Both are free and both are PNG files you can print at any size that still scans, about 2 cm across or more.

Your profile URL is https://www.instagram.com/ followed by your username and a slash, for example instagram.com/bloomcoffee/. The generator shows the exact link it puts in your code under "Encoded Value", and you can copy it from there for your bio links, email signature or website.
